Coding Test Process
- Type of Test: 100% coding questions.
- Choice of Languages: You will have five languages to choose from, including: C++, C#, Java, Python and JavaScript.
- # of Questions: 3
- # of Test Cases: Each question will have two to five Test Cases. There are two types – Default Test Cases and Basic Test Cases.
- Default Test Cases will help ensure that your solution is on the right track. These Default Test Cases carry NO marks.
- Basic Test Cases carry marks. Please attempt ALL the Basic Test Cases.
- Duration: 3 hours and 15 minutes. Please ensure you click the submit button before time is up. If you do not click submit, you may lose marks.
- Location: Online. You may take the test on campus from your college or online from home.
Online Coding Test Instructions
- Ensure you have a good, uninterrupted, broadband internet connection. If you have connectivity issues at home, please let your Placement Officer know immediately and request alternate arrangements.
- Please use a laptop/desktop with a camera. Turn the camera on.
- Ensure that no other applications are running while taking the test.
- Attempt the test in a closed room where you are alone. Do not allow anyone to stand/sit near you or behind you.
- Do NOT use mobile phones or other devices while attempting the test.
- You CANNOT use shortcuts (not even Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V/Ctrl-S), toggle between tabs or look elsewhere other than on the screen.
- The test is proctored (closely watched). After a few attempts, you will be automatically locked out. Once locked out, you will NOT get a second chance to complete the test.
- If you are disconnected for any reason, you may login again within 20 minutes. Please contact the support team if you have any issues during the test.

Can students from other streams participate in the Coding test?
Yes. If you absolutely love programming, and developing software products is your passion, you are welcome to apply!

Can I participate in the Coding test if I have backlog?
Yes. If you are passionate about coding and can crack our exam, you are welcome.

Can we use mobile phones to take the examination?
Mobile phones are not permitted to take the Coding test. Only desktops or laptops are permitted.

Can I take the test from home?
Yes. You can take the test from home.

How will I receive my test link?
Online Test: The link will be sent to your registered email ID. It will be activated at the designated time of your exam. Note: Your email is EXTREMELY important. When registering, please ensure your email ID is correct and there are no typos. Your email cannot be changed once it has been submitted.

When will I receive the test link?
You will receive the Coding Test Link 48 hours prior to the test date in your registered email ID. If you do not receive it by then, please inform your Placement Officer. Check your Junk/SPAM folder before contacting your Placement Officer.

Are there any negative marks?
No. There will be no negative marks.

What type of questions can I expect in the Coding test?
You can expect competitive coding questions. We strongly encourage you to practice.

How can I take the Coding test if I don’t have a laptop?
Please contact your Placement Officer immediately and request arrangements. In the past, students have borrowed laptops from friends, neighbors or family members to take the Coding test.

Can I attend the online Coding test in an Internet cafe?
Yes, but only if you can ensure privacy. If people are standing behind you or people are moving, it may get reported as cheating. Ensure your location is private.

What can I expect during the interview process?
Our interview process has both informal discussion and technical elements. First, we want to understand your skills, abilities and passion.
During the technical interview, we want to understand your critical thinking abilities, logical reasoning and the depth of your knowledge. Our questions are designed to assess your knowledge of different technical concepts and the efforts you have taken to understand and use this knowledge during your studies. A good understanding of data structures and algorithms will help a great deal.

When are the interviews?
Generally, interviews take place within two weeks of the Coding Test. We will inform your Placement Officer, so please stay in touch with them.

Can I speak in my native language?
Our panelists do speak some of the Indian languages. Ideally, you can mix English with your native language.

Do you give marks for English proficiency?
No. There are no marks awarded for English proficiency, though we strongly encourage you to refine your English competency skills, as we are a global company and this is the language we work in with our colleagues around the world.

Where will the interviews be conducted?
Interviews will be conducted in select locations. You will be notified through your placement office. You will also receive a mail, if selected.

Is there an employment bond?
No. We do not ask freshers to sign any bond. However, our recruitment process is very selective, and we intentionally seek candidates who want to make a long-term commitment to growing within SOTI. We support you through extensive training, programs and career paths and prioritize investing in developing our people.
